I’ve posted many games that focus on nouns and adjectives. This is a speaking game and probably the most challenging. However, it’s still fun for the kids and works best if played after the following games
Word Scramblers using adjectives
Short Video
Here’s a short 3 minute video that introduces adjectives and nouns.
Common Core State Standards
NOTE: This game can address the following Common Core Standards: L.K.1.B, L.K.1.C and L.2.1.B
Name 3 Nouns
A student stands at the front of the room. The, he/she has to name at least three nouns that ONE adjective describes. For example, sun, banana and lemon are the nouns. The one adjective is yellow.
Guess the ONE Adjective
Next, students from the group try to guess the adjective.
The student speaking has to choose a student who is seated, quiet and has his/her hand up to guess the adjective.
Whichever student guesses correctly, takes the next turn.
Because this game is more challenging, it may be helpful to divide the group into pairs and have partners work together to choose an adjective and then list 3-5 nouns that it describes.
If your class is focusing on specific adjectives, you could assign one of those adjectives to each pair.
Continue play until everyone has had a turn or the allotted time runs out!
